Ugh, this is fucking bullshit. I don't care if the KJB is a great work of literature; would RDF waste valuable funds paying for Shakespeare to be distributed to all kids in the UK? Dawkins' obsession with the KJB is the kind of thing that puts me off donating. I sure wouldn't want to see a penny of my money wasted on Gove's harebrained scheme.

Dawkins want people to read the bible so they can get to know the bad stuff in it, but he forgot the fact that it contains hundreds of pages of good literature. It sounds irrational and a waste to educate people in bible literature for the sake of a few evil pages, and then they have to spend 70% of their time evaluating the good parts too.

How are they supposed to judge scientific literature if they cant judge religious literature?

False Equivalence. One does not need to have read the Koran, Bhagavad Gita, Bible or even the Book of Mormon in order to judge the work of Einstein, Hawking or Dawkins.

You forgot that I didn't explicitly RECOMMEND people to read religious books, I only asked why the guy excluded religious literature. I have deconstructed your evaluation as based on a misunderstanding.

The truth is that most of the popular atheists around the world had their good opinions because they actually were exposed to the bible in their youth. It gives stimula.

It gave me Indigestion.

One of the reasons I am an atheist is because I read the Judeo-Christian Bible in my youth.

Well sir, I never talked about ALL atheists and I specifically talked about "popular atheists", which means hitchens-style atheists. And they have read the bible in their youth. I can not see that I have mentioned you specifically, and above all, I have never said all atheists apply to this.

I find it amusing that people like yourself want to protect people from non-scientific literature. You have doubt in humanity's ability to consume literature, I don't. I never said either of those things. I also stated a FACT. Now go a way little troll and come back when you stop projecting your prejudices on others!

You said "hopefully science books", it makes no difference whether it is a science book or a religious book as both can be stimulating. And if you had your hope fulfilled, then he would lack the important stimulus from religious books, which is bad.

I want to give a lecture in debate tactics. I see this debate tactic being used quite often by people like Richard Dawkins. I call it debate tactic because I see it as a debate tactic, I will explain why I see it as such in a moment.

Here is the debate tactic: "Atheist: I have never said such a thing, where do you get all of this from"

Instead of asking for documentation of what was being said, the atheist could have simply said "No I never said that, I am correcting you now so that we can carry on with what we were really talking about"

The last method saves time and is more rational. The first method waste more time and puts fog on the thing that was being discussed and is irrational.

It is irrational to spend more time on a specific part than necessary. You don't want to spend 30 minutes on semantics or things that can be solved right away by using another approach.

I find it amusing that people like yourself want to protect people from non-scientific literature. You have doubt in humanity's ability to consume literature, I don't. Tell me, what exactly do you want to give humanity literature in the first place if they cannot make judgement from it? How are they supposed to judge scientific literature if they cant judge religious literature?

The truth is that most of the popular atheists around the world had their good opinions because they actually were exposed to the bible in their youth. It gives stimula.
