Go to: Living in a very religious country

How in the world is this country ranked as a great place to be a woman? The op just stated divorce is illegal, lack of access to birth control, and jail time for adultry. It sounds like third world barbarism to me.

Go to: Dawkins calls for 'Catholic' honesty

Comment 100 by strangebrew : I would go so far as to claim that every single Catholic to day is responsible for their church and its behaviour. The devout ones are by far the guiltiest, but by default are the least capable of realization, but even the ones that play nowt but lip service to their traditional allegiance are enablers. If they feel no real justification for slavishly believing the fanciful nonsense churned out by a discredited and rotten to the core credo, then they must act.

Strip this poxy imbecilic disgraceful cult of numbers, and they will fold...simples!

If they are really moved to revulsion about what their church has done and very likely continues to do, then they only have the one course of action to follow, leave the church and a disreputable faith that lies, let them prove they are truly human and therefore are deserving of the term of humanity !

I am not holding my breath!

I totally agree with you. Enabling such a system and even endangering your child by bringing them to a catholic church where they have a good chance of being violated, these people should be treated with extra ridicule and contempt.

How anyone can be a catholic after the scandal of exposed, systematic mass child molestation by clergy is beyond ridiculous. When the scandal broke, I said to myself, "the catholic church is finished, there is no way it can survive this." And then I started hearing catholics say, "oh all these child molesters are bad apples of the church." It's like as if the catholic clergy could commit mass murder and people would still be catholics...oh wait that's already happened during the renaissance reign of pope generals.

Go to: How religion promotes confidence about paternity

Comment 7 by katy Cordeth : There you have it in a nutshell. This is the reason why I find it hard to get as angry over religion as so many others do. The whole sorry business: the subjugation of half the human population of this planet, be it by the butchering of our sexual organs, or forcing us to spend our entire lives viewing the world through a letterbox-shaped hole in our mobile tent, or convincing so many of us to become hitched to some guy whose bones turned to dust centuries before we were born; the entire thing is just a more sophisticated, bells-and-whistles version of the stuff 'lower' animals do in order to ensure the continuation of their genes.

When I read this I immediately thought of a film that inspired the filmmaker David Lynch. Extremely sadistic independent film which I can't remember the title from the 1930's, where this kind, intelligent, beautiful young woman tries to help liberate "circus freaks" from their oppressive sadomasochist "circus master". This was all well and good until they started chanting let's make her "one of us, one of us" and proceeded to chop off her limbs to make her fit their standards....disgusting I know.
