Go to: Rick Perry, Texas governor, speaks at "The Response", August 6, 2011

And this delusional wreck of a human being wants to be President.

No no no no. Why are you convinced Perry actually believes what he spews? This prayer rally, along with any individual appeals to a higher power, are parts of a very intentional, patient performance geared towards winning over a very easy demographic, namely the population of credulous, feeble-minded religious folks. Don't be as they: inoculate your mind with the critical-thinking skills that brought you to Dawkins' website and realize politicians don't necessarily share the beliefs of their constituents.

Overmann - but don't forget that being a jerk doesn't mean that you're automatically wrong about everything either.

Of course not. I agree with his atheism, but not his character.

Not that it's especially relevant, but I don't care much for Paul Mitchell. He stole the idea for the Texas Freethought Convention from someone else and essentially appointed himself President. The lesson here is I guess being a freethinker doesn't preclude someone from being a jerk to others.

Go to: Francis Collins: Atheist Richard Dawkins Admits Universe's Fine-Tuning Difficult to Explain

Overmann's Avatar Jump to comment 27 by Overmann

The underlying premise of such fine-tuning arguments is that the purpose of the universe was to foster life and that life is the single-most important aspect of the universe. Such arrogance. Of course life is important to us, Frances Collins, but that doesn't mean life is important to the universe. Life is a consequence of the universe, not its raison d'ĂȘtre.

Awesome show; I've known about it for years. I had the pleasure of meeting Matt Dillahunty at an atheist convention once. He continues to be very articulate and precise with his words.
