Couldn't it be this type of thinking that created the human race through sexual selection? How else, but through sexual selection, could we have lost our body hair so thoroughly? Why is excessive body hair unattractive to most people? Is is because it makes us look more "animal" like? Why is a flat, monkey-butt a turn-off? Do you prefer long, slender legs, or short, stubby, bow-legs? It seems that the less we look like a monkey, the more sexually attractive we are - coincidence?

A species that lies around fondling one another because it is not pressed to create new opportunities for gaining an edge over it's competitors (both within and without it's own clan) is probably not destined to conquer the world and could be easily exterminated by a more aggressive and/or resourceful rival.

humans can take the role of either and it is (perhaps) somewhat based on the availability of resources. If times are tough... I mean really tough, we'd be butchering one another for food, water, and other resources. If times are good.... really, really good, we'd probably all just sit around and play with each other too. Makes you think doesn't it?

Reading this actually gave me chills. To think of humans setting foot on this amazing continent for the first time... woolly mammoths, saber-toothed tigers, buffalo, etc... very cool! A lot of negative things could be said about what's happened since, but why spoil the moment... Wouldn't a time machine be nice?

So bonobos are liberal democrats and chimps are conservative republicans?
