Re. # 8 by aquilacane

I agree. Knowing the potential for misunderstanding, and the deliberate misinformation of creationists, this sort of intentional language is lazy and misleading.

Go to: Atheism and Human Rights Abuses in Africa

Personally I have yet to hear it proclaimed at UN, or at our regional and national human rights bodies that the rights of atheists, agnostics and freethinkers are human rights. I do not want these rights to be implied or assumed as currently the case in most countries. I want them to be expressly declared as universal human rights.

And then:

Freedom of religion is often understood as freedom to profess a religion-the religion sanctioned by the state, by one’s family or community- not freedom to change one’s religion or freedom not to profess any religion at all as contained in article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

While these things aren't quite the same, it seems we're part way there.

Go to: Richard Dawkins & Lawrence Krauss Tribute to Christopher Hitchens - 2012 Global Atheist Convention

I am sad that, for many years, I missed out on The Hitch... I had heard his ridiculous brother Peter on the radio and hadn't realised there was another Hitchens - one hugely the greater. Finally, when Christopher published God Is Not Great, I realised my mistake and became an avid fan.

I do miss the man, but am seeking solace currently in working my way through 'Arguably'.

Go to: Tennessee Passes ‘Monkey Bill’ To Teach The ‘Controversy’ On Evolution And Climate Science

In the Dover PA vs Kitzmiller trial a few years back, the teachers made the first stand, by citing a provision of the Pennsylvania teacher code of ethics that they would never knowingly present false information to a student.

Is there not something like this in Tennessee?
