If Richard is about, he might like to look at this article in the Age which basically accuses him and other new atheists of beating up on the pope over child rape allegations.

And since when was Saudi Arabia in Asia?

When wasn't the Arabian peninsula in Asia? It's not in Africa. Though give it a few million more years and it'll have split from Asia.

Arabia,[1] and the Arabian subcontinent[2] is a peninsula in Southwest Asia at the junction of Africa and Asia.

I asked John Wilkins at Evolving thoughts (a full on agnostic) about it and he said the error is that when you deny knowledge of something (not everything) then you are not making a claim about the existence of that one thing. Thus you are not refuting yourself because you're not claiming knowledge about thing. Basically he agreed that it was word play.

Thanks to all who replied. I sort of worked something similar out myself in the intervening. I reckon we could postulate a part of the universe that was outside of our 'light cone' and know that it's outside of our 'light cone' and thus never know anything about it. Except in the privative sense. Sort of like saying I only know that I know nothing is not a positive statement of facts.

The way discussions work on this site makes this kind of collegial interaction well nigh impossible. As it takes 24 hours for the post to appear. I'm sure there are good reasons for this, but anyway. Thanks for trying.

You were merely distracted by a semantics game - for a moment. =) Fair enough. Doesn't matter. I just thought I'd ask.
