Sheesh, what a short "debate". Reminds me of a Hitch comment after a short segment with Bill O'Reilly: "We barely got our trousers´╗┐ off."

The BBC doc that this article referred to is the one by Louis Theroux.

It's up on Google video: http://tinyurl.com/yjd2s48

Worth a watch.

Sounds good!

I'm glad I missed all the handwringing over the past few days, but the new course that discussions are set on is a positive one. I'd rather not wade through miles of garbage to get to legitimate discussions. This new forum will certainly foster quality conversation. Or at least, I hope it does.

Although I can see the case for those concerned about censorship, but I think a rather simple solution exists:

New threads that do not meet a specific publishing criterion should just be dumped in a separate publicly viewable forum that holds the last 10-30 days worth of denied threads. This should include a reference to which standard was not met. No one should be able to reply to these threads, but we will at least get the transparency that many seem to be barking for.

After a little more exploring, I've found a surprising number of comments from users that have been suppressed from being archived by google or archive.org. What purpose does this serve?

You can view the list here: http://www.richarddawkins.net/robots.txt
Each of those URLs can just be preceded with "http://www.richarddawkins.net" and you can see what is being blocked from archival.

Other threads that have now been simply deleted were also barred from the archiving googlebot: http://forum.richarddawkins.net/robots.txt
