Sam makes some really interesting points, and I think he could be onto something truly sensational here, but I'm still left wondering "If so, then where to from here?" It feels like HALF of a world-shaking idea.

Richard was brilliant, there are few other people who cut through bullshit so effectively. I did feel he lost them a little right at the end, when he was talking about how nonsensical and barbaric the story of Jesus' death was if taken as literal truth - he was right, but I got the feeling most of the audience, who had shown heartening support for his points up until then, thought that was a bridge too far.

As great as Richard was, by far the best part of the night was hearing the whole audience roaring with laughter when Senator Fielding copped to being a creationist, and booing his pathetic attempts to dodge follow-up questions about his beliefs.

Polling Texans on anything must be one of the most depressing jobs on the planet.

Go to: Atheists are wrong to claim science and religion are incompatible, Church of England says

Well, nothing new here. The usual claims that "religion explains things science cannot" without stating WHAT things, the usual "science doesn't know everything, therefore God". Quite tepid really.

So do these people set an alarm clock in the morning, or do they let God decide when they wake up? Do they bother with insurance, or do they trust to God to protect or afflict them? If their house becomes overrun with cockroaches, do they call an exterminator or just pray for them to leave?
