Tragic that religious/spiritual people refuse to use the non-woo word "philosophy"
Tragic that there are still naive people who still don't realise that philosophy is an intellectual discipline, not a catch-all term for anything that's not science. As I've made clear, spiritual experience is not concerned with intellectual modelling of the world.
People trying to say that their emotional connection to the world around them is a very, very big deal.
Perhaps all we're saying is that it's a big deal in *our lives*, sciros. And perhaps we're entitled to that. You can go on living your bitter, sneering, disconnected little life and pretend that it's superior to people who are actually enjoying themselves, but you're not very convincing :)

Anyway, that's enough slumming it on the internet with very cynical, unhappy people - it gets depressing after the first few minutes. I may peep in again to sort you out in the weeks ahead :)

Every post rejecting my perfectly sensible advocacy of both spirituality and the word itself, merely confirms what sad and frightened little minds tend to cluster around "The New Atheism". It really is a puzzling and wacky resistance to aspects of being that are both obvious and important to millions of people, and have been since the dawn of time.

But I have more important matters to attend to, so for now will leave you to stew in your unaccountable indignation :)

Yeah, it's so cruel of us not to allow you to redefine words to mean whatever you want them to. Shocking.
You are factually wrong. The use of the word spiritual in this way is, I repeat, an established tradition. There are several definitions offered in my dictionary (Collins) that reflect my usage. And any progressive movements aimed at providing alternatives to religion are bound to have to use language in novel ways. It's an inevitable aspect of creative cultural change.

Well, if you don't believe in spirits then spiritual is a bit of a daft word to use isn't it
Blah, I've explained at length why it's a perfectly apt word to use. But there's no arguing with dead minds whose ontological boundaries are determined soley by entries in a dictionary.

mmurray asks:

Such as ?
Flying Goose linked to one example earlier (http://www.religiousnaturalism.org/index.html )
but there are undoubtedly others out there. I'm not the best person to ask, since I've been developing my own ideas in solitude, so far :)
