Congratulations, Richard!

It looks like I'm going to have to take a break from re-reading the complete works of Terry Pratchett, and there's not many authors that could distract me from that. In fact, I can think of only one.

Personally I'd have gone with either the moon landing deniers or those people who think that 9/11 was an inside job and deny the involvement of terrorist organisations. I suppose holocaust denial gets the job done, but for me it carries the unspoken suggestion that evolution deniers are in some way driven by a morally abhorrent agenda comparable to that of the neo-nazis. I doubt very much that this was what Richard intended. It would be out of character for someone who is normally so direct in his use of language.

Of course, many people might consider them to be just that, but since these are the people that are most in need of Richard's book, I feel a little more care for how they might perceive the analogies made of their position is due. There's little sense in giving them reasons, however tenuous, not to read it.

So many great candidates. I'm torn between Neil de Grasse Tyson and V. S. Ramachandran. They are both excellent communicators and passionate about science. I think i'm tipped just slightly in favour of de Grasse Tyson because of the sheer joy he emanates when talking about science. One gets the impression that if he loved what he was doing any more, he might burst at the seams. :P
