Go to: Why smart people are stupid

The real problem is that we rely too much on calculators and have lost our math sense.

My first reaction was that the bat cost $1.00, less than a second later my brain screamed "no that's wrong" (because that would make the bat only 90 cents more expensive than the ball). It took me about three more seconds to calculate the correct answer.

If these weren't innocent children I'd say, "so what!".

Sadly it's always the innocent who suffer the most, never the radicals themselves.

Go to: Church accused of 'scaremongering'

The Church of England has been accused by gay rights campaigners of orchestrating a "masterclass in melodramatic scaremongering" after it warned that same sex marriage could threaten its relationship with the nation.

I might be a litle more scared if it strengthened the relationship between the Church and the nation.

Go to: Louisiana lunacy: tens of millions to be spent on faith-based education

Parents who choose t send their children to bible thumping creationist schools are going to teach their children to believe in creationism anyways. I'm not happy about this but as long as no one is forcing parents to send their kids to a specific school I can't find much to oppose. Saying that "my tax dollars shouldn't fund x" is not a good argument. Everyone has to deal with their tax dollars funding something they object to.

The bottom line is that parents do have the right to choose how their children will be educated.

Go to: Major Threat to Religion? Clergy People Coming Out as Atheists

TeraBrat's Avatar Jump to comment 9 by TeraBrat

Comment 2 by God fearing Atheist :

It may be the biggest threat to religion, but it has a long way to go.

USA population is about 300 million. Assuming one cleric per 10,000, then there are 30,000 clergy in the USA. So far about 270 are in the clergy project, which is slightly under 1%.

Yes, but, as more and more join the clergy project others will feel more confident about taking that step.

These things take time.
