Go to: Catholic church moving to annul a marriage (between non-Catholics)

Fujikoma's Avatar Jump to comment 7 by Fujikoma

I guess I don't understand the point of this. It would be no different than someone in the klan comlaining that they should be free to marry someone that wasn't white without interference from the group they are freely and willingly a member of.
Just because most churches are of the buffet type, doesn't mean that they serve everything that you want.

Go to: Prayer at a working lunch?

Fujikoma's Avatar Jump to comment 19 by Fujikoma

I see this sort of thing at work all the time. I just don't participate and start eating. I could care less if someone prays over their food and if they really do this normally, then I wouldn't stress over it. Now, if they asked you to participate or got upset that you were eating during their prayer, that's something different. Just tell them that you don't pray over your food. Most may be stunned, but they won't pursue it and the few that won't let it go deserve a verbal lashing about respecting others rights (that not everyone feels the need to pray over their food, regardless of the reason why).

Go to: Jon Stewart Doesn’t Understand How Science Works Even a Little Bit

I'd personally cut Stewart some slack. People will make mistakes and if he actually had a astro-physicist on to do a segment about dark matter, I'm sure he'd re-align his thinking. It's unfortunate that he hosts a comedy show because he's probably one of the best interviewers I've seen in ages and he hosts some of the most interesting people and topics. I don't think I've ever seen a show of his where one side had to raise their voice to try and prove a point. I really think it's a shame that his intelligence is wasted on television.

Go to: Physical Nothing v. Metaphysical Nothing

Fujikoma's Avatar Jump to comment 43 by Fujikoma

I can't imagine being able to remove 'everything'. There's still trace gas, gravity waves, electro-magnetic waves and probably a host of other particles, that weren't in my college classes that physicists know about now. Even if we removed them, there is still going to be something in there, we just may not be able to detect it or we may not even know about it. I'd be happy if there were defined scientific standards of empty, as in, what exactly has to be missing for a certain type of empty to exist.

Go to: A brutal price still paid for daring to challenge faith

The personification of militant secularism... wanting reason and logic to be in the driver's seat as opposed to a made up belief. I can't even picture Dawkins wearing camo and carrying a gun, much less ordering anyone to wear a suicide bomb vest.
