Awesome! The only thing I would add is that if atheists are boring, what does that make church goers?

Go to: Oklahoma legislator proposes resolution to condemn Richard Dawkins

I sent this email to the entire House:

Good Afternoon,

I am writing in regards to STATE OF OKLAHOMA 1st Session of the 52nd Legislature (2009) HOUSE RESOLUTION 1014 & STATE OF OKLAHOMA 1st Session of the 52nd Legislature (2009) HOUSE RESOLUTION 1015. First, I am not sure why the House of Representatives thinks it has any business to tell any American University, public or private, who can and cannot speak to their students. Second, Professor Dawkins is a highly, perhaps the highest, respected member of the field he is speaking on today. It seems to me this resolution could have stopped at “the University of Oklahoma is a publicly funded institution which should be open to all ideas and should train students in all disciplines of study and research and to use independent thinking and free inquiry.” How can you possible follow that up with saying that Dawkins should NOT be able to speak about a topic he certainly knows more about that anyone in the House, or most anyone in the world for that matter.

In addition, the characterization of Dawkins being intolerant of “cultural diversity and diversity of thinking” is categorical false. If any in the House had actually read anyone of his 10 or so books, they would know that.

Even if you agree with nothing Dawkins says or thinks, why do you feel so threaten as to not want him to even have an opportunity to express his views? Are you afraid the students at U of Okalahoma are so naïve, so feeble minded that Dawkins will brain wash them?

Lastly, who should speak about such a topic? Anyone specific in mind? Perhaps a scientist who believes in God, because that is what I feel these resolutions are hinting at.

I am really disappointed that such an elite section of our society, which you all are, can be so ignorant.

Thank you,
