It would have been interesting to see Deepak’s reaction, had Sam or Michael brought up Chopra’s assertion that he and his wife have bent many spoons with their minds!

Hey Sally 68, interesting point. It appears you are trying to make a point by pointing out that the point missed by many is pointing toward other aspects of the point missed? Seems a lot of pointing. :-))

“I think many are missing the MAIN reason why this article was posted. Forget about capital punishment or the Texas justice system, this is strictly about a bunch of superstitious jurors consulting a book of fiction to deliberate on. That's INSANE!”

Well said, KRKBAB

“But, maybe they shouldn't consult the Bible in the jury room”.
There shouldn’t be a “maybe” in that observation!

This discussion should not be whether this guy deserved what he got but about how the verdict was reached.

Have we forgotten that GWB went to war in Iraq because he thought God told him so?

There is nothing wrong with believing in God, but it must be “Spinoza’s, Einstein’s and Sagan’s God”, the one who reveals himself in the laws of nature and in the lawful harmony of all that exists, not in a God who concerns himself with the fate and the doings of mankind.

“I believe that an orderly universe, one indifferent to human preoccupations, in which everything has an explanation even if we still have a long way to go before we find it, is a more beautiful, more wonderful place than a universe tricked out with capricious ad hoc magic”.
