Go to: Australian PM Gillard won't play religion card

Yes it is an encouraging sign for Australia but. Let's not forget that the trench warfare of an election is just around the corner. We have a very conservative catholic opposition leader who will work this subject very carefully. If he even get's a sniff of fear or insecurity in the electorate on the subject he will go for the kill. The Australian electorate has shown over the past decade that when fear is let loose in the community it will swing right, very right to the good and loving faithful.

I am not really sure how to take this bloke. Initially i took it all as a big joke but reading the comments it would seem this fool takes himself seriously. This hateful rubbish is the exact ignorant dribble that helps us develop further tension between cultures and build more resistance to change. If you want to feed the religious fanatics on both sides, continue with this push to lack of understanding.
How any of you could consider this fool as an atheist is beyond me, i see nothing in his character other than frightened American Christian. This is the sort of justification that is used to ease ones own guilt when your country bombs the living crap out of another and kills 10's of thousands of innocent women and children. It's ok for them to do this though because of the world trade centre. One attack on American soil, and comparatively to what the Americans have done around the world with their interference in central and south American politics as well as the indiscriminate bombing of Arab cities, it was nothing.
America the land of harmless religious wakos like Jim Jones and the Wakeo incident. Don't worry about the Christians they have their own special way of hurting their people.
Finally A few of you need to challenge your thinking if you consider this idiot to be good.
We all like to think our way of life is good and righteous but the truth is we are one seriously lost world full of very different ideas and non of them are right or wrong. What are you really? Are you rational. Just because you claim to have thrown off religion doesn't mean you have. Challenge your thinking and your way of life.

I doubt secularism will ever take hold around the world. To let go of religion requires education, most countries around the world discourage their populations from becoming educated and the rest try to control what and how subjects are taught. Religion has been the most successful form of population control ever devised. Since the pagans were destroyed to give way to christianity we have had our thoughts, behaviour and lives controlled more and more strictly by ever evolving techniques. Probably the first form of religious control for the masses came with judaism and their god that defeated the evil Egyptians. Yes i know the pagans were not without their issues of crowd control either, but they used brute force reserving their gods for the elite. The religions use fear and the oppression of our minds to think for themselves. The religions of church, economics and politics have a firm and unbreakable grip on our societies and to destroy them would bring down the whole of civilization. Is that what we want?

unfortunately I think we all know that the fool won't end up in court. unless this issue really starts to gain some momentum in the media soon they will simply ride it out as planned then lean on there arrogance at the next world youth day. A much more disturbing matter is that the world seems happy to allow this to evolve. I really don't understand why there is so much fear of holding the church to account for its actions. Surely they realize if they had read their own bible that their god will punish all these clergy and church goers for more breaches of the good book than could ever be counted, just consider the wealth that these organisations control. The way they hold on to their clubs despite the fact they are all against the word of there own saviour reminds me of the way an alcoholic holds on to the bottle even though he knows it's killing him. sad very sad.
