geru: You list Brian as a god. Did he ever have any followers that weren't in the film?

I have a tiny problem with science writing like this: regardless of the big issues, they often get the trivia wrong. Is it nit-picking to point out that she says in a dark-energy-universe light gets dimmer as it travels through space and in a void-universe it only diffuses at the interface? The target audience absorbs a lot of the minor details without thinking much about them.

Continuing the Heisenberg comment, the only reason we can't know, to arbitrary precision, all the properties of $thing is that we have to use interactive methods to observe it. God - as usually defined - wouldn't do that. There is no central viewpoint from which everything can be observed naturalistically, which knocks out omniscience, so God's view of things would have to be supernatural.
So the HUP argument is as useful as saying God can't see me because I've got lead-lined walls. Or a tin-foil hat.

I'm sure this is very similar to some sort of desert-island-books question that popped up last year? I remember commenting how surprised and pleased I was to find we both liked The Black Cloud.
