Go to: The meaning of spirituality for a materialist?

I think what I mean if/when I use the term is the moment when your imagination, your emotions and your senses "line up". I think of the first time I saw "Comsos" whe it originally aired, how every possible part of what I was experiencing at the moment seemed to be perfectly in tune as a result. And when my son came home from the hospital for the first time, a moment where I was laying on the couch, he was asleep on my chest, there was 'Revolver' on the stereo and the day was cool and clear. A kind of peace you can't really describe, but anyone who has experienced it understands. A lack of netgatives; a paucity of positives.

I suppose "spritualiity" in this sense might be striving to attain these moments, but I am not convinced they can be induced easily without altering one's chemistry in a brutal fashion. They have to emerge from your circumstances, and they have to be let go when they pass.

My neighbors are, and have always been, without shame.

I mean the kind of shame ethical people feel. They have a truckload of the moralistic, artificial kind.

Every time I read of a new find I am seven years old on a trip to Dinosaur Monument again. Like every new astronomic find leaves me feeling like the 11 year old wathcing the first episode of Cosmos. I dunno bout anyone else, but science makes me feel young and imaginative.

My brother taught for a few years. He related his concerns to me summed up as "the problem with teachers and students is parents and tax payers." I think this is true. We in the States are getting what we have earned. Nothing less, and unfortunately nothing more. We really have no right to complain.
