So, is the author trying to say that it is impossible to enjoy Harry Potter without believing in Hogwarts?
Is work from the non-fiction department the only form of literature with the power to move us?

Are there really people out there who are unable to understand that a beautiful piece of music can be enjoyed for it's notes, not it's message?

Go to: Why do Americans still dislike atheists?

Perhaps we are paying too much attention to "Atheism" here.

America seems to have a dislike for elitism and intellectualism in general.
Atheists are, on average, more educated than the general population, and atheists score more highly on tests of intelligence.
Being more educated allows atheists to rise to more elite positions in society.

I've yet to come across a study that controls for this, but is it possible that the problem is not anti-atheist bigotry, but anti-intellectual bigotry? If we lived in a society that respected intelligence, could this problem go away?

As someone who suffers from (and occasionally enjoys) dyslexia, I find reading immensely difficult. When I am reading, so much of my attention is focused on deciphering the text and forcing the jumble of letters before me into the right order that I can't follow the chain of ideas.

Discovering audiobooks in 2007 has been a godsent (or, in this case, a Dawkinssent) For the first time, literature came alive. I finally "got it". I realized what was so appealing about books. I go through several each week.

I have a few favourites, but Dawkins quickly rose to the top of my list. Not for his clear and eloquent writing style, but because of his voice. Dawkins has such a wonderful, smooth, and soothing voice. He is an absolute pleasure to listen to.

I will be looking forward to starting this book.

Thank you.

Comment 2 by Austin K :

How is that even remotely legal?

It's America, a country where you have to be molested by a government agent before boarding an air-plane; warrants are not needed to tap your phone lines; and prisoners are held/tortured indefinitely without trial.

This story does not surprize me, but it does sicken me.
