Go to: British girls undergo horror of genital mutilation despite tough laws

The horror is unbelievable. I can't bring myself to watch the video.

I vaguely remember a few women being prosecuted in France some years ago.

Without racial profiling, checking up on the children seems impossible.

Mr. Hitchens - I wish you great strength and endurance for this fight. You have just recently signed my copy of Hitch-22 in NY (brought through a friend of mine) without needing spelling info for my real name (a first). I still wish to see you speak in person. So please get better soon.

Go to: The Pope Is Not Above the Law

Ah, Hitch at it again. Always love to read his columns (even if I don't agree with his opinion about Iraq).

What gets me every time is apologetics for the church and their cries "everyone is out to get the church".

A sin in the Catholic view has no statue of limitation. But the perpetrators are let off "with prayers and repenting". How sick is that? That's no punishment at all, a few Hail Mary's don't bring back a lost childhood. All the while the church tries to hide behind canon law or try to hide information up to the Supreme Court (Mahoney from Los Angeles).

And, reading the now infamous 2001 letter, the first "crimes" that are listed to be punished are Eucharist related, and NOT abuse. So Ratzi then, before and today thinks about doctrine and not people.

P.S. Totally OT: Does anyone know when the books/DVDs that were listed for certain donations are shipped out?

Go to: Pope Mass hints at fightback against abuse critics

"petty gossip" - come again? Are the crimes committed by those priests also "petty crimes"?

A sin in the Catholic belief system has no statue of limitation, so the Pope should defrock and excommunicate any priest who has confessed to (or has been convicted of) the raping and torture of children.

I agree with Richard, Ratzi should not step down - he should stay so whenever he murmurs something everybody knows it's this despicable person at the top of a fake beliefs cult.
