Athiests live in foxholes,
Agnostics sit on the fence,
Theists live in castles in the air,
The Clergy charge them rent!

"Atheists would be banging their collective heads against a brick wall and making themselves look petty and antagonistic in the process."

I agree, I don't think that it would be conducive if Athiests were seen to be petty and antagonistic. However, once a complaint had been made wouldn't the ASA be obliged to follow it up? It would then be the ASA (an official government body) against the believers in god. We could sit back and let officialdom take over. Extrapolating further, once one government body had ruled against the non-existance of god, others would eventually follow suit - in otherwords, one could hope that it could become the thin edge of a very substantial wedge between government and religion.

"The last thing we as atheists want to do is complain to the ASA."

I disagree. We should complain as it would force the ASA to make a judgement on the existence (or likely existence) of god. It would completely hamstring anyone making supernatural claims. Wouldn't it be really funny if all religeous adverts had to carry a disclaimer, e.g. "For entertainment purposes only!"

Bringing together a couple of common themes ...

A picture of the London bus blown up on 7/7 and the quote "Imagine ... no religion"

(I would have thought this to have been one of the most powerful, and hopefully thought provoking, messages seeing as the image will be on the side of a bus)

I think it was Pat Condell who said something like

"The sole purpose of religion is for the empowerment and enrichment of the clergy"
