" Can the church claim that, because individual priests are put in prison, that lets them off the hook? "

Surely they can claim this! As a many headed Hydra the church can shed these monsignors forever. The church culture, if not the church, has to go. If I had my druthers the church, as all churches, would pay taxes just like everyone else.Would have minimal to maximum regulation, like almost anyone else Would be fined by Federal agencies, just like everyone else.Would get bad mainstream press, like anyone else Would be allowed to fail, just like Enron, which is rather the church's culture anyway.

PS: No bailouts!

Not nearly that blatantly, Jos. That incongruity with what actually happens, such as sneaky creatard attacks, to the article's happenings gave it away. Attacks on individual freedom of speech is still uncommon, but I think a time will come when that article may pass for real.

No, I would not have fell for it. Any US citizen ought to know this bill would so violate the Constitution that it would never be passed into law by legislators poorly advised by ambulance chasers, signed by any Governor with shysters for legal advisers and even if passed and signed it would be struck down on it's first legal challenge.

Unfortunately, the type of US citizen that would even contemplate such is the type that could think it quite appropriate as state/US law.

A bill that banned the over use and inaccurate use of the word strident may have a chance of passing though!

Particular male genes.

Thought I would clear that up though I thought my second post was rather clear on that point.

" cause male genes to predominate. " Makes little sense in sexually reproductive organisms with sex linked traits and a XX, XY gamete distribution. Still, averaged out over many children certain males would be better represented than others with some not represented at all.

@ nick keighley

No male lion needs to clone himself when all he has to do is kill the cubs of another male lion. I thought it too obvious to mention the 50-% constant female contribution to the genetic mix.

Some male lions will reign longer than others and the longer rulers will have the greater amount of descendents, while some male lions may have no descendents as their first and only born will be victims of infanticide.

No female input needs be considered here and that was the point. No cloning needed, just this sexual selective technique.

I wonder if these people could find a " fatal flaw " in this fact of mammal infanticide. This sexual selective technique rather guarantees the male genetic make up being passed in mass and preferentially.

I hope the US takes notice of that primary school teaching of evolution in Great Britain. A good counter to creationist ideology forced on too many of our young. Unfortunately, since schooling is local in the US, this welcome change in pedagogy by Great Britain will probably be completely ignored.

Read the evolution program and it sounds meaty enough for HS students. Sooner the better!

Massive understatement!!

Without the Revolutionary War, War of 1812. The Spanish-American War, WW I. WWII, Korea, Vietnam and so on. A lot of American history around the Civil War and on both sides of it, but, mentioned or not, the theory of evolution by natural selection and the fact it greatly explains is much more to biology than the Civil War is to American history.
