What would aliens think, if they came long after we're gone, and in their archaeological digs they find loads of little metal crosses depicting what appears to be a human nailed to a cross?
Wouldn't they logically assume, without surviving books or other evidence, that this was some widespread sacrificial practice and we were complete barbarians? (that's if they don't assume its a sexual practice).

The saddest thing about this whole debacle is that Minister Dermot Ahern made this law so that it would be almost impossible for anyone to get charged under it. I have to wonder why bother making it at all in that case.

What an excellent piece.
I can tell you from the ground that this may mark the beginning of the end for the Catholic Church or at least a complete decline.
When I talk to young people in the pubs they have no respect for the church what-so-ever. Even a lot of the older people are cursing them. No one takes a word they say seriously and either treats them with scorn or mockery.
Hopefully the dominoes will start to fall and Ireland will rid them out of their schools and lives.

Suspiciously has an IMdB rating of 6.4 stars from 6 votes, four only giving it 1 star (would it be too much to assume disgruntled Christians?), yet the film isn't even out yet.
I can't wait to see it anyway. This lunatics always entertain.

EDIT: Just after I typed this post a guy on the ad proved my point. "The prophetic signs; they're increasing. Just like the birth contractions of a woman." :D Comedy gold.

The event should be funded in the same way a gay pride weekend or mardi gras is funded. It has nothing to do with religion. Its everything to do with bringing in business and revenue.

Thomas Byrne's Avatar Jump to comment 9 by Thomas Byrne

"There is a huge number of Brothers who never sexually abused or physically abused people in an unwarranted way..."

I put this down to a combination of Stockholm Syndrome and a genuine fear of God.
No doubt over the coming weeks, again, as of before, we will have little articles in our newspapers written by victims of abuse calling on us (the Irish people) to forgive them for their sins for that is the way of the Lord.
Thankfully the younger generation, not subjected to the wrath of the church, have nothing but sheer contempt for the church and will dismiss these old people as misguided and naive.
I would expect to see a further decline and hope that these times of insecurity and uncertainty don't drive the fearful back into their open arms and tight grip.

EDIT: Spelling.

I love it. Someone with the balls to stand up to the Catholic Church. I have a form here to deflect from the Catholic Church and as soon as I can get a witness signature its being sent off.
None of my friends will touch it (too afraid or something) but I noticed there is an atheist Ireland meeting on the second Thursday of December. I'll get someone there to sign it and it'll posted straight out.
I'm not sure how much longer they can be sustained with dwindling new recruits, parishioners and soon they will have to pay out big for all this.

I can't believe people are getting hung up on this. I thought it was the men who came out as the stupid ones in this one and as already was stated, no one seemed to care that Adam was a dumb "jock" type.
I don't know why women feel they should be exempt from being ridiculed anyway. I love ads like the Yorkie ads which take the piss out of female stereotypes. I don't see why people don't recognise its the stereotypes that are being mocked and not the actual groups.

I wonder if a trend toward caesarean section would allow for bigger brains?

Anyway, Dawkins made the point (which got a great laugh from the RDS audience in Dublin but, not from this audience) that an increase in intelligence would only be possible if it were the intelligent ones who were having all the babies.

Makes me think of that film Idiocracy.

Ah now Richie. That's not really fair. The reason they make the question so simple is because they get money for every phone call made so the easier it is the more people phone in and the more money they make. Although the level of the show is pretty low.

Pity The Panel wasn't on any more. You got a great reception on that (with a younger audience).

The irony of creationists is incredible.
I remember watching Ken Ham give a 'lecture' on the evils of 'evilution' (face palm). At the start of the lecture he said that according to 'Darwin' (said with emphasis as if stressing his evil) you, me, that tree and pond scum are all the same, that he devalues human life. He then goes on to talk about how Darwin lends credence to Nazis.. etc because they claim that they are 'more evolved' as if 'Aryans' are higher up the evolutionary ladder.
Well.. which way is it?
Are they (white Nazis although you can also have the opposite, the Nation of Islam, a black group who claim that they are the most evolved and that every other race are inferior branches which sprang form them)no more than toads and sea squirts or; are they 'more evolved' than Jews, Africans and Gillian McKeith?
The glaring contradiction in the first 5 minutes (I didn't/couldn't watch past 7) is ridiculous. And yet no one in the congregation picked up on this.
I know they're not stupid, they just don't care. And that's the sad part.
