Crazycharlie's Avatar Jump to comment 65 by Crazycharlie

Feel no remorse for this religious fanatic. The practices of these Pentecostal snake handling freaks is well known to most. With the Internet however, many millions more will see how truly irrationally insane they, and religion in general, is.

There are times when Moyers is too milquetoast for my taste. This video essay, however, is very good and one of his best. Occasionally, American practicality can override the zealots. The short clip of Obama is good too. Contrast that Obama clip with any of GW Bush's or S. Palin's speeches.

I had to laugh at the title.. "ARCHBISHOP TAKES ON ATHEIST DAWKINS". Richard is a mild, calm, rational gentleman and Williams is such a meek, bleating sheep. This is hardly going to be a clash of the Titans..

"Let's get ready to RUMBLLLEE!!"

"In this corner, at 180 pounds, in the embroidered dress, it's The Canterbury Crusher! The Battling Bishop! The Boss with the Cross! RO-ANNN WILLIAMMSS!!"

"And in this corner, weighing in at 185 pounds, wearing the informal business suit with a crockaduck tie, it's The Oxford Obliterator! The Atheist Annihilator! The Biological Blitzkrieg! RI-CHARRD DAWWWKINNS!"

And now for round one. DING!

"Hello Richard." "Hello Rowan, how are you?" "Well, thank you."...

Absolutely amazing! I've often hoped someone would show, in a better way, how the mechanics of the cell work. Wonderful! If scientists want the world to understand their work better, this is the way. Humans are VISUAL, as well as thinking animals.

This video is going in my favorites and staying there.

I bought six bumper stickers from Evolve Fish.--

"Only sheep need a Shepard"

"Science flies to the moon, Religion flies into buildings"

"Atheism isn't a religion.... it's a personal relationship with REALITY"

"Church / keep them separate/ State"

"I believe in life before death"

"Religions are just cults with more members"

I got them with the magnetic backing. That way I can put as many on my car as I want at one time. Sometimes I only put a couple on, sometimes all six, depending on how I feel. Another reason I got the backing, if I park in a parking lot at a shopping center or wherever, I take them off so I don't have to worry about any good Christians vandalizing my car.

Crazycharlie's Avatar Jump to comment 23 by Crazycharlie

A beautiful and fitting tribute. Even after having spent a large part of the last day and a half watching Hitch in old interviews and debates on YouTube, this was still a pleasure to see. Hitch's last line in this video....

" To me, the offer of certainty, the offer of complete security, the offer of an impermeable faith that can't give way, is an offer of something not worth having. I want to live my life taking the risk all the time knowing that I don't know anything like enough yet, that I haven't understood enough, that I can't know enough, that I'm always, hungrily, operating on the margins of a potentially great harvest of future knowledge and wisdom. I wouldn't have it any other way. And I'd urge you to look at those of you who tell you, those people who tell you, at your age, that you're dead till you believe as they do. [What a terrible thing to be telling to children. And that you can only live by accepting an absolute authority.] Don't think of it as a gift, think of it as a poison chalice. Push it aside however tempting it is. Take the risk of thinking for yourself. Much more happiness, truth, beauty and wisdom will come to you that way."

To me, those are the most powerfully moving words I have ever heard in my life. He didn't read them off a page. They just effortlessly flowed from his mouth! Absolutely amazing and beautiful.

However, the hazards to our frail human body's in space, 0 gravity, the distance to other stars, and this, in my opinion, is the most daunting; cosmic rays, has made me a bit jaded on the subject. I truely hope I'm wrong and human ingenuity can overcome these obstacles.

Craig is just another in a long line of dishonest Christian apologists who twist reality into any argument to defend their ridiculous beliefs. Craig has turned this method into a weird art-form. He's not a philosopher but a professional debater who only has credibility with devout Christians. Fuck him.
