Another strong article from A C Grayling. Not that Dembski's ridiculous course provides the sternest target. But still enjoyable non the less.

But I have to say that the Guardian CIF comments are really depressing. To see such ignorance displayed from people who I'm sure would consider themselves to be intelligent and knowledgable is frightening. If ever anyone needed proof of how religion strangles reason then that comment thread would provide ample evidence.

My first comment here. I'd always thought that it would come in the middle of a discussion that I found so interesting and enjoyable that I had to join in. Instead it's the threat of this site losing the very thing that make it so unique that has brought me out of lurkdom.

First things first. I have lurked here for the past several months since I discovered this site after reading 'The God Delusion'. That book gave me an interest is science and reason that, despite being a confirmed atheist for many years, I had never had before.

During that time I have grown to love the unique combination of deep intellectual debate with totally insane humour. It's brilliant. No matter what the article was about or how serious the subject matter, you could always be sure of something to make you think, make you smile and make you laugh out loud. A perfect combination.

The idea that this state of affairs could soon end due to a heavy handed moderator saddens me greatly and would leave me without the one place on the internet where I was sure to be entertained without having my intelligence insulted. One thing I do know is that if this site ends up becoming a po-faced and serious site without any of the fun then my stay here as a registered member will be very short lived indeed.
