Gosh...who on earth would have thought global warming deniers would be hanging around here. The Channel four documentary has been widely discredited (just watch it & see how they mangle data). I'm afraid that GW has just as much support amongst scientists as evolution, denying it puts one on a similar level to crazy creationists with their heads in the sand...

Actually the now show very recently (last week) had a bit form a lapsed-muslim stand up, including the brillient line:

I think religion is a force for good in Burma at the moment, I think it would be much more difficult for others to stand up to the regime if the monks didn't.
However, I doubt that the good outweighs the bad, and most importantly of all, it's just plain wrong!

interestingly we seem only to be discussing the weaker points..I actually quite like the point about space and time being created by the big bang therefore whatever caused the big bang is outside of space and time...if only more theists argued like that- think of the interesting debates to be had!!

"Any logical, thinking person must be against abortion"

who, then, is the victim of abortion? Who gets hurt?

Leaving aside the more controversial ends of abortion (late term partial births etc) how is removing an unfeeling cluster of cells better than forcing a woman to undergo massive physical hardship and pain for 9 months and then (potentially) having to serve a life sentence for a child she didn't want. How is having unwanted life better?

Abortion benefits society and is neccessary for equality

abortion is not horrible, it is a fundamental tennent of equality. If a woman doesn't have control over what happens to her own body (and, of course, what she does for the entire rest of her life) what rights does she have?

not knowing which category of paper the daily mail is in,i went through some online articels.
it`s mainly about david hasselhoff being too fat, intelligent women not beeing able to find mr right and britney spears wearing a see-through dress in public.need one say more ?

The Daily Mail is one of the dreadful tabloid tosh papers we have in the UK, spouting low brow right wing yellow journalism. If there was a theme to the DM it would be "the Muslims are coming" or "foreigners are coming to our country and taking our jobs/causing crime/spreading disease". I really would discount anything it says as nonsense without having to read it.
Love the quote:
The most conspicuous example of this is provided by Dawkins himself, who breaks the rules of scientific evidence by seeking to claim that Darwin's theory of evolution - which sought to explain how complex organisms evolved through random natural selection - also accounts for the origin of life itself.

confusing natural selection with primogenesis is a classic sign of ignorance (and to ascribe these views to the good professor is surely libelous....)

"So if the universe is infinite now, it was infinite to begin with? So did it "big bang" in every part of it, or just "our" part? If only in our part surely the rest of the surrounding universe would have resisted it. If it exploded in every part simultaneously (assuming simultaneity makes sense in an infinite universe) well that must have been some bang! Sorry I just don't see how the universe can be infinite."

Imagine you comprehended only 2 dimensions (well, 3 including time) and were actually running on the surface of a giant sphere, you could never ever reach the end of it, and wouldn't know why. This is kind of how the universe is infinite for us...does that make any sense (not sure I've explained it well)
