Pope warns of misuse of religion - Comments

Anvil's Avatar Comment 1 by Anvil

I just love how the Islamists have threatened to assassinate Darth Ratzinger if he refuses to apologise for calling their religion violent. Priceless.

Anvil.

Yes, too bad Peter Sellers is no longer around. I can just imagine speeches from him with the great accent and character in Dr. Strangelove. Could be a great remake of a movie along the lines of religion rather than US/Soviet silliness in the Cold War.

Why is this guy allowed to wander around in his nightgown ranting about his immaginary friend? He could harm himself/others. In any other context he would be delivered to a mental health facility and dosed up with Haldol

I think he's up there looking down on us, oh wait, he could be down there looking up..., oh, WTF...he's probably too busy taking a harp lesson to worry about all this insanity!

Perhaps we should have a caption competition for that picture above.

My (feeble) offering:

Two bungee jumpers chicken out...
'After you'
'No, I insist, you first'...

OK. Shouldn't be hard to improve on that.

My first reaction was for Friar Tuck to give Darth Rat zinger a little push, but then rationality kicked in; no wait, the longer this clown is kept alive trying to spread his medieval drivel, the better for our side.. jcw

Religion is crazy, and it's harmless in the same sense that a crazy man is harmless... Until he convinces himself or others that you need to die.

Someone said that religion is gunpowder and people are the weapon. Better keep the gunpowder away from them.

Misuse of Religion creating tension and fundamentalism? The catholic church again fails to understand the concept of irony...no surprise eh listeners?

I must be truly sad waiting with unalloyed glee for every utterance from Emperor Palpat-sorry, ."His Holiness", and waiting for him to tread in another pile of shit of his own making-especially with crazy wacky stunts like upsetting muslims and appointing a holocaust-denyer as a bishop.

It is not the religious leaders who are at fault; after all they are god's rep on earth. It is those pesky followers, they just don't pray hard enough, grovel often enough, cough up more donations with smiles on their faces and gratitude in their hearts more frequently. I mean, you just can't find good servants/slaves, oops, religious followers these days.

In the past, religious followers were too busy scraping around for a bit of bread, to actually 'misuse' religion by blasting through its idiocy, brain-numbing contradictions, and general inanity. It is not religion's fault or its leaders, it is those evil sinners that refuse to give religion a chance, insisting instead that it plays no role in improving anything.
