10 strangest Jesus sightings of 2009 - Comments

Chris Roberts's Avatar Comment 1 by Chris Roberts

Is it just me or are there a lot of stupid people in this world?

I mean, why would a divine figure even choose to re-appear on a biscuit or a toilet seat?

Surely an impromtu prayer service at a random church would be much more appropriate!

Actually it looks a lot like the late Jim Morrison of the Doors.

**I mean, why would a divine figure even choose to re-appear on a biscuit or a toilet seat?**

God is beyond man's comprehension, if he choses to appear in a popular range of biscuits then that is his want.

As for the toilet seat, maybe he like to have his face sat on.

Isn't that a curvaceous lady on the iron? No wait, if you look closely, it's a hot babe in a mini skirt. No no no, it's a bikini.
Hmm...why are we posting porn images on this site?

Or is it just me?

How did the "news" find out about this story? And why did they cover it?

"Hello Channel 13 News, how can I help you?...What? You were cleaning your toilet?... a Jesus face appeared on a bumper sticker?...Now the economy is going to get better? CLICK"

I mean, this isn't news. This belongs on Comedy Central. This should be funny. However, now, since ABC news has covered it, it is just plain sad.

Haven't these people read Karen Armstrong? Don't they know what religion is all about? God is not a being that manifests himself in the form of material images.

He is an expression of the believer's inner notions of God and self - duh!

My Great Grandmother refused to by a new tv when her old one died in 1973 because the tube popped while she was watching one of the old Sunday morning preacher shows and the scorch mark inside the tube looked like Jesus. She took it to mean Jesus wanted no part of TV in general and TV religion in particular. I was with her on the TV religion part but I couldn't see Jesus having a problem with cartoons, thus began my long walk down atheist lane.

These Jesus in a biscuit/grilled cheese sandwich/closet door woodgrain/toilet seat are so common that I don't even notice them anymore. They serve as a depressing reminder of the idiotic religiosity of this place. I was going to skip this thread but now I'm glad I didn't. I clicked on that link that George Lennan provided above and what high entertainment that was! Much better than the stupid toilet seat!
Thanks George!

It doesn't occur to any of these folks that no one knows what jeebus supposedly looked like in the first place. If these were images of jeebus's step-dad's uncle's plumber's mate, how could anyone tell? "Look, this looks like itself! It's a miracle!"

I mean, what kind of god - oh, forget it!

(PS. Yeah, the drunk guy is great fun. And you know what, he kinda reminds me of jeebus! Clearly all his blood has turned to wine for a start...)

There's never a shortage of these r-tards.
I guess it's nice to feel so special that Jesse makes an appearance at your house.
The level of interpretation is also pretty great, since people can always tell what it means. Usually on these lines: "He's just telling us that he cares/is watching out for us (for what?)/has blessed our home (I guess the neighbours were too wanky) etc. etc... Fuck, I'm off to worship my door.

Amazing how Jesus only likes to appear to Christians, Mary to devout Catholics, etc. If these heathens only knew the true Gods:

Can we schedule a show where we get these people together and let them argue about their miracles:

Non-catholic Christian: I saw Jesus as a grease splatter!

Hindu: Bullshit, Jesus is a lie! I saw Ganesh as an oddly shaped flower!

Catholic: I saw Mary in some dirt on the side of a factory wall!

Host: Wonderful, hopefully people are witnessing how amazing and beautiful faith is. We'll be back in a moment with a Jew who saw Moses in a half-eaten shawarma.

And let's throw in a liberal theologian to tell us what it's really about:

Liberal theologian: None of this contradicts the notion of God. God appears in different ways to different people. It is not even important that God exists, in the crude way that, ahem, some people use the word "existence". What is important is the profound feeling that people get in the contemplation of god appearing in a Snickers bar, collection of rocks, or potato chip.

If that looked anywhere near Jesus, I'm not surprised christians think they see Jesus or God a little everywhere. The only thing she proved to me was her retardation.

That's 'cos it always means the same thing: You are not in fact the loser you secretly know yourself to be. Rather, if you squint at this jam-jar lid and force your brain shut, you'll be able to imagine that you are Profoundly Important. The world is simple, black and white, and you are securely ensconced on the white side, where you not only matter but are always right. Relax: you have at last found a way to make yourself admired, if only by other losers.

Yep this is a God worth worshiping.

Rather than really make it clear, such as interrupting the broadcast with a divine message to everyone watching, Jesus just chose one old lady and destroyed her t.v. like a petulant child.

Who was it that commented on the fact that when things happen that would logically seem to decrease one's faith in God, for believers these events can actually increase it?

Pathetic; he's a bright bloke, a good writer, why is he wasting his time with this tripe.
